Concert goers gather in Storey Square for a summer concert last summer during the WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital Annual Summer Concert Series.

UNIONTOWN, Pa. – Music will once again be heard across downtown Uniontown as WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital, in partnership with the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Uniontown and the city of Uniontown, presents their annual Storey Square Summer Concert Series, which began June 8.

The weekly annual concert series features live bands and food vendors, as well as a small collection of vendors, including fresh local produce, each week, along Main Street in Uniontown.

The hospital also provides information regarding services, education regarding healthy living and an opportunity for concert goers to interact with physicians and clinicians.

“Our mission is to improve the health of the communities we serve. This annual concert series provides a fun way for the local community to learn about the programs and services available to them, close to home,” Uniontown Hospital President and CEO Carrie Willetts said.

New this year, hospital organizers announced they will introduce a “punch card” for concert goers to use when they visit the hospital tent to learn about hospital services.

“Each week, we will have different service lines or health education available at the concert and those in attendance will have the opportunity to get their cards “punched” for visiting with us,” Josh Krysak, hospital director of Community and Patient Relations, said. “We have also teamed up with Fayette County officials to bring additional information about community services and they too will be punching cards for those that visit their tables. Once a card gets 10 punches, it can be submitted to the hospital team and entered for fabulous end-of-season prizes to be randomly drawn at the last concert of the year on August 24.”

This year’s concerts kicked off June 8 with music from the Allies and feature food vendor, The Grub Wagon. This week, music will be performed by Abby Abondanza and food from On a Roll will be featured.

All concerts are held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Concert goers are reminded to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets to the grassy, open park – located on Main Street beside the State Theatre, as bench seating is limited.

Cancellations will be shared via the hospital Facebook page by 1 p.m. the day of the scheduled concert, should inclement weather arise.

The city parking garage on Peter Street is open for free parking on concert nights beginning at 4 p.m.
